In this third edition of TechRadar by Devoteam, one-third of the technologies are AI-related or AI-driven. The significant presence of such technologies across all categories of the radar is explained by the rapid emergence of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in just a few months. This development is compelling companies to urgently reconsider their technological strategy, reassess their priorities, and adjust their roadmap accordingly.
Indeed, the advent of generative AI will revolutionize what companies do and how they do it. It’s a double-edged transformation that presents opportunities but also introduces new risks that need to be managed. The future of companies will largely depend on the technological trajectory they choose and their ability to navigate this path while maintaining their balance, controlling the inherent risks of GenAI, and harnessing its power to make it an ally of their business objectives.
“We are at the dawn of an era where technologies, whether in the field of computing, communication, healthcare, or industry, are inevitably marked by the omnipresence of artificial intelligence. GenAI will spread more rapidly across all fields of application through functionalities integrated into common tools. This means that technological choices will now have to anticipate the likely increase in productivity using GenAI while managing the major issues inherent in its implementation, such as security, ethics, and human resources.

Among the prerequisites, transitioning to the cloud and implementing rigorous data management are priorities. Digital Business & Products: Projects are shifting focus towards rationalization, optimization, and operational efficiency rather than innovation and conquering new markets. Companies prioritize proven solutions that guarantee a quick return on investment. Generative AI (GenAI) emerges as an exceptionally effective response to achieve these productivity goals. Development assistance tools are available from hyperscalers (Google’s Gemini, Microsoft’s GitHub Copilot, Amazon’s Code Whisperer, etc.) and major software vendors to facilitate the implementation of solutions like Salesforce’s Einstein for Developers and ServiceNow’s Now Assist.
Data-Driven Intelligence: Companies continue to adopt cloud data platforms, while technology providers enhance their solutions to facilitate optimal data usage, encourage internal and external sharing, integrate third-party data, and efficiently process unstructured data. However, major organizational concerns revolve around data management and its uses, such as governance, compliance, privacy, sovereignty, and ethics. Technological solutions are emerging to address these challenges by facilitating the definition, application, and control of rules, particularly with larger and more diverse data, infrastructures, and organizations; examples include AirByte, DatGalaxy and ThoughtSpot.
Distributed Cloud: With increasingly complex and diverse cloud environments, architectural considerations are gaining renewed interest. Kubernetes remains essential for developing native cloud applications, while new solutions are emerging in this dynamic ecosystem, such as Kyverno and Submariner. The introduction of AI to manage the growing complexity of cloud environments, particularly in the context of sovereign clouds, is expected in the coming months, representing a major advancement in this ever-evolving field.
Business Automation: Hyper Automation software vendors have quickly realized the potential of generative AI and have begun enriching their portfolios by integrating large language models (LLMs), proprietary or open-source, into their conversational interfaces. Examples include Salesforce’s Einstein GPT, ServiceNow’s Now Assist, Microsoft’s Copilot, Google’s Bard and Gemini, Outsystems’ Project Morpheus, among others. However, in this field, generative AI is still in its early stages of adoption, hindered by factors such as a lack of skills, insufficient technological maturity, and siloed data.
Trust & Cybersecurity: As companies modernize their information systems and heavily adopt the cloud, cloud security becomes crucial. Despite the high levels of security provided by cloud service providers, recent incidents highlight the need for additional solutions. Two key points are the security of multi-cloud environments and identity and access management (IAM). Technologies such as Active Roles, JumpCloud, and Akeyless, introduced in TechRadar by Devoteam 2024, address these issues. Generative AI will be used by both attackers and defenders. It could lead to more sophisticated fraud on the attack side, while on the defense side, it will enable automated incident detection. Microsoft Security Copilot is an example of these advancements, signaling a major trend this year.
Sustainability enabled by digital: Current technologies, particularly cloud-based data platforms, enable companies to create their environmental reporting and management solutions, including Boavizta, Granulate, or planA. The choice between building or buying depends on the business, organization, and maturity of the enterprise, with a central concern for abundant and dispersed data. Automation plays an essential role in accelerating data collection.
As for AI, it will be valuable for managing the complexity of sources, identifying optimization areas, and integrating environmental aspects into decision-making. It can also contribute to more resource-efficient processes and products. However, due to its computing resource requirements, monitoring its environmental cost/benefit ratio will be necessary to determine.
